Ryde City Sports Action Group (RCSAG) speaks up
“Cash Cows ... . Ryde City loose direction of our children ...”
Just to back your comments on the over-charging of fees from RCC here is another example of a City not putting the Community first.
RYDE CITY community are you aware? The clubs have a vested interest in being involved in a debate with RCC sport recreation officers and the general manager also to an extent even the Mayor. Which is why the Ryde City sports action group has unearthed itself and many others are pushing for improvements across the board.

I think it would be useful if the Sport council meetings were affected and not a waste of time. In regards to specific issues affecting junior cricket as an example but there are other sporting codes affected also, hence the example is there are now 86 teams playing in that Junior section as opposed to just 15 in the seniors. In terms of playing numbers, that's around 900 children aged between 7 and 14 playing cricket in this area each week and is well over a 1,000 when you include the 4-6 year-olds involved in weekly Mini Cricket programs alone. In comparison, the seniors total 165 players weekly of which some of those will be juniors as well. And of course, you won't be surprised that many of the senior players have children playing in the junior teams so they too can see the benefit of helping the juniors.
Even better, perhaps you might have time to pop along to the next Association meeting as I'm sure the delegates would welcome the opportunity to discuss its concerns, thoughts and opportunities in regard to the further development of junior cricket.
In the meantime, the Ryde City Sports Action Group (RCSAG) is working closely with councillors on proposals such as lower fees and other concerns affecting the community. Perhaps some of the income from fines 2007 - 2008 $2.4 million, 2006-2007 $1.7million, 2005 -2006 $900,000 2004-2005 $630,000 (RCC from 2002 till now 2008 an increase of 733%) might go ahead in helping the children in our community, who have been neglected for over 30 years.
I hope that this article may be useful and help aid the communication between the council and the RCSAG as well as the associations and local clubs might fight back .
Looking after the Sports organization is beneficial for Ryde, as it has always been a strong city for sport and most associations and local clubs need assistance as it teaches our children team work and leadership as well as healthy life style and keeps our children away from drugs and smoking just to name two bad habits.
