In the representative stream of the football program, Gladesville Ravens plays in the NPL NSW Women’s competition<\/a><\/span>. The youth representative program offers multiple levels of opportunity for our local girls to learn, flourish and progress into the higher levels of the game both nationally and internationally. The youth girls play in the FNSW Girls Youth League competition<\/a><\/span>, and our Development Squads play in the Tier 1 of local Association Leagues. Our junior representative Ravens play in the FNSW Girls Skills Acquisition Program<\/a><\/span> (GSAP).\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

TRAINING<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Training is held between 5PM and 9.30 PM, 2 or 3 nights per week depending on the team. We currently train at 3 locations: Bedlam Bay, ELS Hall, and Christie Park.<\/p>\n

GAMES<\/strong><\/h3>\n

All games, across all age groups are played on Sundays. Our home ground for the FNSW GSAP, Youth and Womens programs is Christie Park (Fully synthetic complex). Our development squads play out of Morrison Bay, Meadowbank Park and our home ground Peel Park.<\/p>\n

Please remember that the teams cannot play without managers. We would encourage parents to contribute to these positions as they are pivotal to the success of the team. RAVENS REPRESENTATION \u2013 THE RAVENS WAY<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The way we act on and off the field is very important to our core values and what we call \u201cThe Ravens Way\u201d. Central to all our values is respect. We know that not all teams will behave in manner that we agree with. Parents will shout, players will act in a way we might not approve of, referees will make decisions we don\u2019t agree with. Whatever the situation we expect our players, coaches, parents, volunteers, and anyone who is connected to our club to act in a way that is respectful. Another key part of the Ravens way is to let our girls learn the game without fear and confusion. On game day and at training we want positive support from the stands, but there must ONLY BE ONE VOICE COACHING <\/u>and that\u2019s the team coach. So please, do not try and coach from the side. However, please do share your thoughts on the game \/ training in the car on the way home \u2013 mum and dad\u2019s input is always very important \u2013 but keep it positive!!<\/p>\n

All players will be provided with their own numbered training and game wear. This will include game and training kits, team wear, tracksuit, and a bag. Each year (COVID permitting) we take a team of representative youth players to Japan to play against, and train with some of the top professional female academies. In 2019 we held the RAVENS CUP in Shizuoka prefecture. An invitational event that was won in 2019 by Yokohama Seagulls.<\/p>\n

At Ravens we call our GSAP program THE NEST<\/strong>: a safe place where young girls can learn football without fear or anxiety. We offer GSAP teams in the u10, u11, u12 and u13 age groups. Games are played on smaller pitches, starting at 9v9 between u10 and u12 and 10v10 in u13s.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

CLUB, SKILLS ACADEMY AND HOME TRAINING<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Training will be held 2 or 3 times per week. There will also be opportunities to participate in holiday camps and soccer skills programs. Each week the girls will be given home-based training that will consist of practicing individual ball skills. Key to development is spending as much time on the ball as possible at home and at training.<\/u><\/p>\n

CURRICULUM AND PLAYER DEVELOPMENT<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Our curriculum will follow the Football Australia model for SAP aged players and will be mixed with our philosophy and models of player development.\u00a0 Ultimately, we are creating a player that fits into the Australian way of playing football, that also possess the Ravens gene. Ravens GSAP is continually progressing and assessing our player development model, to ensure we stay relevant and current in our approach to player development.<\/p>\n

PATHWAY AND PROGRESSION<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Development through The Nest will be systematic and progressive. We are looking for a player to evolve over time, so winning games is not our sole focus in these age groups, rather the emphasis is on enjoyment and learning<\/u><\/strong>. Winning will be an outcome of a successful development program. Our aim is to have our representative youth program fully supplied with players graduating The Nest.\u00a0 Meaning that if a player has moved through The Nest, they should be very well equipped with all the footballing tools required to become a great representative level player for the Ravens and hopefully into higher representative football at state and national level.<\/p>\n

We understand that there are limited opportunities for girls to join representative level teams each year. A key element of The Ravens Way is for us to ensure we are offering as many opportunities as possible for local girls to learn and develop within a high-level football framework. \u00a0Our Development Squads have become an important part of our youth program, allowing girls to train at the same level as the girls playing in the representative teams, receiving the same support, resources and coaching across the whole program. Our Development Squads play in the tier 1 age groups of the local leagues, and always play up at least 1 or 2 years to ensure they are challenging themselves. Each year players from our Development Squads are progressed into the Ravens FNSW representative league teams.<\/p>\n

Training will be held 2 or 3 times per week. There will also be opportunities to participate in holiday camps and skills programs. Training is held at Bedlam Bay, ELS Hall, and Christie Park.<\/p>\n

We have an internal target of having our senior squad filled with at least 70% of players who have played youth football with Ravens. Developing and growing with the player is a key part of our approach, both on and off the field. We understand that we play a part in their development into adulthood during these important years.<\/p>\n

We are known for our attacking brand of football, a key element of the \u2018The Ravens Way\u2019. We operate a senior squad system where all players are urged to fight for a jersey in the 1st<\/sup> Grade starting 11 each week. We are continually progressing and assessing our approach to player and coach development across the whole club, to ensure we remain contemporary in our training methods.<\/p>\n
