RAVENS NETBALL<\/h3>\n

All players aged from 6 years can join us on the netball court in 2026. All games will be played at Eastwood Ryde Netball Association’s new courts at West Ryde. Netballers play in their teams at the same time each Saturday. The 2026 season kicks off on Saturday 2 May.<\/p>\n

There are many ways you can get involved and play netball with Ravens:<\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

JUNIOR<\/h3>\n

Children turning 6 on or before December 31, 2026 join all 7, 8 and 9 year old\u2019s in playing modified netball.<\/p>\n

Children turning 10 by December 31, 2026, play games using the normal rules of netball, including full length goal posts, however there are no finals for this age group.<\/p>\n

All other ‘Juniors’ are aged 11 to 17 years. Girls turning 14 years or over by December 31, 2026 can play in a Senior Netball team.<\/p>\n

SENIOR<\/h3>\n

There are multiple divisions for seniors teams to play in at Eastwood Ryde Netball Association.<\/p>\n

Junior netballers aged 10-14 are required to attend grading before being placed in a Ravens team for the season, with players grouped together of equal\/similar ability. This grading is scheduled to be held on Friday 6th March and Sunday 8th March at Boronia Park Netball Courts.<\/p>\n

Older junior teams are not required to attend grading.<\/p>\n

Players turning 14 years or over by December 31, 2026, can play in a Senior Netball team.<\/p>\n

NETBALL GRADING POLICY<\/strong><\/h3>\n

All Junior players aged 10 to 14 years will be required to attend grading where they will be placed into teams consisting of players of equal or similar ability.<\/p>\n

Grading is a complex process with selectors looking at skills, ability, commitment, and attitude. Our selectors also need to consider the team as a whole, ensuring where possible, players are filling the required positions on the court.<\/p>\n

At Ravens, for those players who have played with us before, we are able to view coaches\u2019 reports from the previous season and if required, factor this into the selection process.<\/p>\n

We also know, players can develop at different times, and we see new players joining the Club each year, which can impact the final composition of our teams.<\/p>\n

Our selectors are experienced in selecting and score each player independently before consulting with the other members of the grading committee on team formation. It is a very thorough, fair, and transparent process where we aim to ensure our players have a positive and enjoyable season playing with teammates who are of equal or similar ability.<\/p>\n

All players will need to be registered with Netball NSW to attend grading.\u00a0<\/p>\n

umpiring<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Umpiring is a fantastic way to be involved with the sport of netball, with some great opportunities and pathways available to umpires at a Club, Association and State level.<\/p>\n

During the winter season, Ravens is required to supply umpires for up to 30 games every Saturday. We also provide umpires for rep carnivals, gala days, and grading.<\/p>\n

We have many wonderful umpires who have been a part of the development program available through the Club who continue to umpire games every weekend.<\/p>\n

We also welcome experienced umpires who are interested in umpiring for the Club, particularly in the afternoons during the winter season.<\/p>\n

NETBALL COACHES & MANAGERS INFORMATION<\/strong><\/h3>\n

We are a Club that can only exist with the help of volunteers. We need volunteers to fill coaching and managing roles.<\/p>\n

We also have opportunities for young players to learn how to become a coach, as part of our Junior Coach Mentoring Program. If you are aged 14+, and are interested in coaching, please get in touch.<\/p>\n

All coaches and managers attend an information session prior to the start of the season with coaches also invited to our \u2018Coach the Coach\u2019 sessions.<\/p>\n
