welcoming you to our Club in 2024
All players, boys and girls, aged from 3 years can join us on the football pitch in 2024. We would love you to join the Ravens team.

Girls teams play non-competitive games on Sundays in the North West Sydney area. Similar to boys/mixed teams, teams require a volunteer coach and manager and training runs on the same nights and locations.

General Information
VOLUNTEERS AS COACHES, MANAGERS AND Coordinators are SOUGHT
Please remember that the teams cannot play without coaches and managers. We would encourage parents to contribute to these positions as they are pivotal to the success of the team. I am happy to provide support and training to assist parents to perform in those team positions. The club does its best to find people for these roles but we need your cooperation.
NWSF (North West Sydney Football Association) Competition
Normally the competitions will start April and conclude with finals in mid August. Games will be played throughout the school holidays and we hope that you consider your commitment to the girls teams when making holiday arrangements. Round Robins and Grand finals will be played in August.
When COVID-19 restrictions are inplace the competition will run differently. Be mindful that schedules may change to Government and or Football NSW advice.
TRAINING
Training will be held one night a week either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evenings at one of the following ovals; Westminster or Monash, both on Ryde Rd Gladesville.
Training nights and times ARE TO BE coordinated with the Football Directors in order to alleviate overcrowding and will be decided in late February with the relevant age coach and managers who will be notifying their respective teams.
In the event that coaches wish to train two nights a week, all teams will be given preference based on their first night. The second night MUST BE cleared with the Football Directors so that space and times can be found.
TRIAL GAMES
Trial games will be held in March and will be managed by the team coach with the exception of the Riverside Cup which will be managed by Men’s director. There may be some away trials with other clubs from different associations this will be at the discretion of your coach
PHOTOS
All new players joining Ravens for the first time will need a photo for their registration.

The MightyMites Development Football Training Squad is for pre-school and Kindergarten aged girls and boys (3-6 years). The weekly sessions are run by professional coaching staff and senior playing Ravens members. The program aims to introduce kids to the game of football by developing ball skills and progressing to small-sided games. The sessions are designed to be fun and provide an environment to learn about soccer, playing in a team and meet some new friends!
Duration: 10 weeks from May 2024 (excluding school holidays, when the program doesn’t run). Final dates to be advised.
The program runs for 10 sessions from 4 to 5pm at Peel Park with each participant getting a playing jersey, shorts, socks, ball, boot bag and & 2 A league tickets. Amazing value at $150.

Minis
2024 Minis Football Program
Gladesville Ravens provide coaching sessions and set up matches in a relaxed environment where the aim is to teach new skills in an enjoyable way.
The smaller fields, modified rules and fewer players mean a more enjoyable game with more opportunities to touch the ball and more opportunities to score goals, once again increasing the likelihood of an overall positive experience.
As your child progresses through the various age groups they will be introduced to playing environments that most suit their stage of development and prepare them for the transition to 11v11 football when the time comes.

Q. What is the minimum age?
A. The minimum competition age group our associations play is Under 6. Your child needs to turn 6 the year they are playing.
If your child is between 3 and 5 please read our MightyMites program which caters for this age group as a great introduction to football.
Q. What are the registration fees?
A. For the latest on fees please see our dedicated registrations page in the website menu.
Q. Can boys and girls play together in the same team?
A. Definitely. Mixed(boys) teams play on Saturdays and girls only teams play on Sundays.
Q. Can my child play with his/her friends?
A. The Club will make every attempt for children to play with their friends but can’t guarantee this. Existing teams stay together from the previous year and a lot depends on vacancies. Creating brand new teams is obviously a lot easier to match friends together.
Q. How do we know what team our children will be in?
A. As stated above early notification to the Club helps us form teams early prior to the placement day. We then use the placement day to finalise the teams and parents are notified shortly after to confirm their registrations.
Q. How many players in the team?
A. We follow the small sided games or Miniroos guidelines around the amount of players in a team but be mindful numbers will change depending on the demand we have for each age group.
Those guidelines are;
U6 & U7 – squad sizes of 6. 4 playing with no goal keeper.
U8 & U9 – squad sizes of 9. 7 playing including a goal keeper.
U10 & U11 – squad sizes of 11. 9 playing including a goal keeper.
Q. What size are the fields for each age group.
A. Our Associations follow the Minisroos field format which can be found here.
Q. When are the training sessions?
A. Each team needs volunteer parents to coach and manage. Training sessions are largely based on when the coach is available (date & time) during the week.
Q. When and where are the games held?
A. We are a part of the North West Sydney Football Association . Boys or mixed teams that play on Saturdays and girls only teams play on Sundays.
For the first few years the Minis play locally against other clubs in the area.
Games are generally played in the morning first up from 8:30am through to mid-morning. This is a guide only as scheduling is done by the Associations.
Q. When does the season commence?
A. A general timeline is as follows. Registrations start in January, team placements are done in February, training starts in March and the season generally starts at the beginning of April. We organise some pre-season events as well prior to April kick off.
Q. What uniform do I need to purchase and where do I get it from?
A. Each player will need to purchase Club shorts and socks separate to the registration fees. These can be done on placement day or organised through the Club at a more convenient time. Each player will receive a soccer ball to own as part of their registration and the team will have Club jerseys to wear that need to be given back at the end of the year.
Juniors
MENS U12 TO U16
A key focus is for boys to play in teams of like ability, as a club we would like to provide opportunities for all girls.
NWSF (our local association) will endeavour to provide 2 competitions per age groups; this will be dependent on the number of teams in the particular competition and the team number threshold they will be using to create the 2 divisions. We intend to use this framework to provide opportunities for all players.
Please contact us if you wish to discuss your situation.
Please be aware that we shall endeavour to do our best to meet the needs of the girls and the club, team sizes will need to be considered and this will be based on a case by case basis with the coach. We believe that each team should carry no more than 3 reserves. This will assist in the best delivery of manageable team sizes.
Where there is an intake that requires to fit players into the most appropriate level for the girls we may adopt a grading process. This will be determined in February once registration are completed.

Wet Weather
Wet Weather Information
So what happens when it rains and the grounds are unplayable? The local councils and the sports controlling bodies are involved in the process of deciding if training or games are ok to go ahead or called off due to bad weather.
Training
Most ground are controlled by Ryde Council and can be seen by checking their website (Click Here) or phoning their wet weather line – (02) 9952 8244. They update this information twice a day during the week – 9am and 2.30pm.
Gladesville Reserve is controlled by Hunters Hill Council and they have a website that shows the status of grounds. (Click Here)
Teams must not train if the grounds are closed – Ravens can be fined if reported.
In the event of localised or late severe weather Ravens Officials (including coaches) can close a ground for safety reasons.
Games
This is determined by the sport associations and where the games are being played.
The Ryde Council uses the same service as their training service (Click Here) They will make a decision on weekend games at 3.00pm on Friday if games are to be cancelled due to bad weather. Ryde Council is the only Council that inspects fields on Saturdays to determine if they are playable for Sundays. Their decision is made around 4pm on Saturdays and they do update their website.
Games can still be cancelled by the NWSF if the weather is bad. They will update their website at about 8.00am Saturday morning with details about weekend play. (Click Here)
In the interest of safety Ravens Officials (Ravens Directors) can cancel a game if they deem it to be dangerous. And lastly the referee can also cancel any game, for any reason, if they deem it unsafe to play at any time.
In all cases the officials decision is final and coaches, parents or players should not dispute a decision once it has been made.
