INFRASTRUCTURE UPDATES

During lockdown we have turned our attention to the off-field health of our club. This has included feedback and stakeholder consultations, and as a part of that process we found out that people want to know more about what’s happening behind the scenes, in particular with regards to access to training facilities for our girls. In this blog we’ll update you on the key main projects that are being undertaken by Ryde Council that are supported by Gladesville Ravens.

Christie Park – Phase 2

The synthetic access issue is multi layered, and anything but straight forward given the amount of NPL teams we have in the area. However, the good news is that Christie Park is about to be given a huge facelift as part 2 of the 3 part upgrade begins  (see above image). A new amenities and office building, changing rooms, kitchen and storage are all about to be built and could be in place by mid 2022. From there, phase 3 will see additional mini pitches added. We continue to negotiate for more access to Christie Park for training.

Westminster Park

Another key project is the upgrade to Westminster Park. This is a project we are truly behind, something we are pushing on many levels, and something that we hope will support our long term FIGHT FOR EQUALITY when it comes to access to the best training facilities in the area. Westminster will begin its long road to development in the coming months, and hopefully, once finished, it should be able to provide a fantastic football environment in the heart of Gladesville.

ELS Hall

The upper amenities building is close to being finalised and is due to commence construction in the coming months. This building will provide change rooms, toilets and storage. We continue to use ELS for training and occasional games, and we continue to negotiate for more access to ELS for training.

To conclude, there are LOTS of projects happening behind the scenes, not to mention other projects that we are unable to disclose at this point, but our desire to provide the best environment for our local girls to train and play games is first and foremost in our minds.
